What is Silver Age Yoga?
Silver Age Yoga is a 501 (c ) (3), non-profit organization. It's mission is to provide health enhancing, free yoga classes based on gerontology to low income seniors. Founded in 2003 by Del Mar yoga teachers, Frank & Serpil Iszak, Silver Age Yoga has delivered over 5000 free yoga classes.
In 2004 I took the advanced Silver Age Yoga teacher training and have been teaching a free Silver Age Yoga class at the Golden Hill Park and Recreation center's Community Clubhouse. Over 100 seniors have taken advantage and benefitted from these classes over the last 3 years.
To date, there are 35 free, weekly Silver Age Yoga classes offered in Southern California & spreading across the country. All classes are asked to be supported by the community via donations and the Adopt-A-Center program. To date only 9 of these classes are fully funded.
Maria has been offering special classes and workshops to raise the $2500 needed to secure another year of free classes to the seniors. So far $1040 has been raised.
